Apparently I have schizophrenia, but I'm feeling non-complaint with my medications?

Coincidently, I now work in a mental health ward. I haven’t told anyone about my diagnosis but I emphasise with the patients way more than I can relate to the staff. I have never been hospitalised for my illness though. Anyway, that aside. I am feeling very non-compliant. I missed a dose this week. Is this part of my symptom? I am tired of taking these meds. I’ve seen what they can do to people. My doctor said I can come off them in a two years (a year and two months has already passed).
