Should i tell my psychiatrist?

ok this is the story. Sometimes i think about hurting people, yes i have violent thoughts and homicidal thoughts. When i am home i have thoughts of me hurting my mother. Should i tell my psychiatrist that i have these thoughts. Will i be hospitalized for telling this to him. Whenever i have those thoughts my heart starts beating fast.
